Inspiration

Part of the inspiration for this came from a conversation I had with one of my kids the other day. I was complaining to him that Santa never brings me anything and hasn’t in a long time. Second, there are just eight days left until Christmas, so if you have procrastinated until now, I wanted to offer up some options for you to still be able to get a gift on time.

How You Can Still Win Christmas

With Christmas just eight days away, the time to purchase and receive that special gift for that special someone is dwindling away. Before Amazon, I think it would have almost been almost impossible to order something online and get it in time for the big day with only 8 days to go, especially with 3 or 4 of those days being the weekend or a USPS holiday. Luckily, nowadays Amazon and many other on-line retailers enable the procrastinators and can still get you your gifts with plenty of time to spare. Below are a few options that you still have available as well as some gift ideas from the Big Guys. This mostly applies to the contiguous United States. I’m not sure about other parts of the world, but if you know, let us know in the comments!

Amazon

As I’ve already mentioned, Amazon is amazing. Not only do they deliver almost everything super fast, you can even get packages all the way up through Sunday, December 24. They have provided a nifty holiday cut-off schedule here.  If you don’t have Amazon Prime, and only opt for standard, free shipping, you have to order your goodies TODAY, as today is the last day for free shipping without Prime. Tomorrow, December 18, is the last day to order with Standard, Free shipping if you have Prime. If you use the Amazon Prime, two day shipping, you can wait until the 22nd to order your stuff or wait until the 23rd if you bump up to the 1 day shipping option. Lastly, if you are lucky enough to live somewhere that has same-day or two-hour delivery, you can order ON Christmas eve and receive it that day… Amazing.

If you are in need of some ideas on what to get from Amazon, Big Guy Tabjabber has some wonderful suggestions below.

Instant Pot Pressure Cooker – Totally worth it and a lot easier than you would think to make tender meat in 30 minutes.  I use it to make ribs which I will glaze and finish in the oven.  The whole process takes around an hour.

2 lb bag of cereal marshmallows – Make any cereal better by adding marshmallows.  The store stopped carrying the frosted flakes with marshmallows, so now I just buy regular frosted flakes and add my own marshmallows.  They are also good just as a snack.

Bose QuietComfort 35 Headphones – These work great and are super comfortable.  Great for ignoring annoying office mates, annoying kids, annoying dishwasher, etc. (See Tabjabber’s Big Guy review on these here!)

If you need to get Amazon Prime because you missed the deadline for free shipping or just want to make sure you get your stuff in time, you can sign up for a 30 day free trial using the banner at the right. Prime is totally worth the yearly subscription with all of the things Amazon has thrown into it. If you don’t have Prime, I want to know about it in the comments. I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t have a Prime account anymore!

Other Online Retailers

A lot of other online retailers also give you the ability to make your purchase up within the next few days. Here are a few.

Make a Charitable Donation

donation in a hatIf that person you want to buy for already has everything, and you just can’t figure out what to get them, you could always make a charitable donation on their behalf. I found a pretty good article over at the spruce that lists the Top 7 Charities that Help Children at Christmas Time. I picked that one because my kids are the biggest thing in my life. Maybe the person you are buying for really loves animals or something else. There is a charity out there for everything.

Stop Being Lazy

There are probably many other options, but for the sake of wrapping up this article, your last option is to stop being lazy! Get out there and fight through the herds of last-minute shoppers to finish your shopping! Hopefully everything you need is still in stock.

Good Luck

Whichever method you chose, we here at Big Guy on Stuff wish you good luck in your efforts. If you have any crazy stories on last minute shopping, please let us know in the comments below!
